The coler af silver on chrom

enough know what it is for a silver color the chrome is painted with on the dash of a1959 Ford

I think some people just polish the chrome and reinstall it without that paint. I too am curious though as to what type of paint gives that correct silver color if anyone knows. It sure seems a shame to paint over nice chrome doesn't it?
