Hi all I am restoring a 57 Skyliner that i had shipped to Australia.
I am rebuilding the transmission, the original fordomatic small case it has a aluminum extension housing.
I am trying to find out if the transmission cases were painted when it left the factory and if so what color.
The car has had a paint job at some stage to red and white, and the motor is a 55 292 now.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks 59 i got my answer from Dave. No paint on transmission when they left the factory.
He suggested i paint it clear with a matte finish which i have done.
Just need to get time to complete assembly of transmission then fit it.
Maybe after new years.
