My retractable is leaking fuel where the filler tube enters the tank. I know this was off during restoration & obviously wasn't put back correctly.
Since I now have the car, what is the right way to install this?
Thanks,
Bob.
(That's the reason for my previous question, re: the hoist).

There should be an O ring on the end of the filler neck that seats into the gas tank.

Thanks Dave,
As soon as I siphon some gas from the tank, I'll replace the O ring.

Be careful that you get the correct size. The ones that Carpenter sells are too fat to fit properly. I found an o ring that was fuel resistant at the local Ace Hardware. Much petroleum jelly on the socket on the tank and none on the filler tube. Loosen the filler tube, remove the rubber gasket where the filler goes through the body and prepare to cuss a bit.
A lift is nice but not necessary as you can get to the tank from the wheel well with the tire and wheel removed.
Good luck.

I found the perfect O ring at a truck stop. I had to pay extra because it said "CAT", but it worked great!
Thanks everyone.

Glad to hear it.
