57 Skyliner front shock absorbers

Can anyone tell me the best type of front shock absorbers for my 57 skyliner? My car is very soft in the front end, tyres are old and that will not help things, however there is a lot of roll going around corners which would not just be from soft tyres. I have restored my suspension 5000 miles ago and I think my front shocks came from concourse parts. The workshop manual and my parts number books do not give any specifications on shock absorbers.
Also my parts text and illustrations books only tell me the colour code on the front springs that are for the various types of 57 fords. They don't give any spec information on the springs themselves. Anyone know any information on spring height and thickness of 57 skyliner springs?
