Top will not raise off the windshield header

I had reset the top and the locks ratchet in the erect operation and unlock in the retract cycle. When lowering the top into the trunk the pins followed the guides but stopped short not letting the top descend the last 2 inches and finally pushed the left side pin out of the guide springing the top frame sideways. I fixed this problem by lowering the back of the guide support and the roof went fully into the trunk. I erected the roof and when about 4 inches from the locks making contact it dropped hard like it was spring load into the locks. The locks ratchet and unlock but won't pull the roof out of the locks in the retract cycle. I can barley lift the top but if I block it up 4 inches the top will retract. The control lift assist springs seem ok. Has anyone experienced this problem or have any suggestions as what could be wrong? Paul

Recommend convincing Mr. Rollins one of the IFRC Tedh Advisors. I had similar problems and he fixed it to operate like new.
