neutral safety switch

How do I disconnect the Neutral safety switch on a 1957 skyliner? I need to get it into the shop so I can fix other problems, as well as test the switch. as it is now I put it in neutral and it either doesn't even crank or if it does it's only 3-5 cranks not enough to start. I have tried jiggling the gear shift around the neutral position which has worked in the past but doesn't help now.

Your switch is probably worn or out of adjustment. The 57 Neutral safety switch is designed to work only in neutral. I would Recommend that you check with one of our parts dealers and get a 58 switch that works in park & neutral that is much handier. That may take care of your problem. Ron B
